Voilà,
c'est un de mes restaurants préférés à Paris. La carte y est simple, modeste. Le décor délicieusement rétro et élégant, avec ses vieilles affiches, ses publicités d'autrefois, ses plaques en émail évoquant des apéritifs oubliés. Il y règne une atmosphère chaleureuse et sans affèterie. J'aime m'y retrouver avec ma fille, ou en compagnie d'amis proches. C'est un endroit où, je ne sais trop pourquoi je me sens comme dans une fiction. (linked with weekend reflections)

Once upon a time, on Montgomery Street in San Francisco, there was this place called The Iron Pot. It was my idea of heaven when I was 19, 20 years old. In the early 60s I could take a date there for dinner, each have a couple of cocktails, and get out the door for under ten dollars. We dressed well and were cool, so the waiters never worried about checking our age. There were paintings on the wall, Financial district money people at the tiny bar. The Happy sounds and smells still fill my heart all these years later. A simple restaurant, but with great food and older waiters who made a living doing what they did. I wish I could go back one last time, but it's gone now.
